Contract Electronics Test & Validation Engineer
Contract: 3 Months
Location: Bedfordshire - Commutable from Watford, Northampton, Milton Keynes - 5 days on-site
IR35: Outside
About the Client
A UK-based developer and manufacturer of electronic products, introducing a new PCB design and strengthening quality across production and field performance.
The Role
A hands-on lab role focused on test, validation, and fault finding. You will investigate production and warranty failures, establish root cause, and work with the engineering team to implement fixes.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and build of PCBA and end-of-line (EOL) test fixtures for a new PCB design ahead of introduction
- Carry out root cause investigation on failed field returns and identify remedial actions
- Carry out root cause investigation on failed production builds, feeding back to PCB suppliers and recommending design or quality improvements
- Work closely with the design team to implement and verify corrective actions
Required Experience
- Strong electronics fault finding to component level
- Root cause analysis experience (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone or similar)
- Experience specifying or building PCBA functional and EOL test fixtures
- Confident with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analysers
- Experience working with PCB/PCBA suppliers on quality issues

- Test automation or scripting (Python, LabVIEW or similar)
- Exposure to compliance or validation testing
- Background in electronics manufacturing or warranty returns analysis
