Electronic/Firmware Engineer
Leeds - 5 days on-site
£40,000 - £50,000 + 10% Pension Contribution + Holiday
Are you an Electronics and Firmware Engineer looking for a varied role where you can work across the full product lifecycle, develop cutting-edge hardware and embedded systems, gain exposure to high-voltage applications, and have opportunities for international travel and specialist technical development?
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a background in electronics design and embedded firmware development to join a specialist engineering business working on bespoke technical solutions. The position offers a broad range of responsibilities, from concept and design through to testing, commissioning, and ongoing product support.
In this role, you will be involved in electrical and electronic design, including circuit design, component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layout. You will also develop embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems and support assembly, testing, fault finding, and commissioning activities.

The ideal candidate will have experience in both analogue and digital electronics, embedded C programming, and the use of electronic test equipment. You will be a self-motivated individual who enjoys working independently while contributing effectively within a small engineering team.

The Role
- Electronic hardware design including schematics, PCB layout, and component selection
- Embedded firmware development for microcontroller-based systems
- Creation of wiring diagrams, BoMs, and technical documentation
- Testing, fault finding, repair, and product support
- Support for onsite commissioning and customer installations
- International travel to customer and company sites with potential offshore work

- Experience in analogue and digital circuit design
- Embedded C programming experience with low-level hardware knowledge
- Familiar with oscilloscopes, signal generators, loads, and other test equipment
- Hands-on prototyping skills including soldering and wiring
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and within a team
- Degree-qualified with industry experience, or significant equivalent practical experience
