Machine Operator
📍 East Lothian
💷 14.00 - 14.50 per hour (depending on experience)
About The Role
We're looking for a reliable and motivated Machine Operator to join a busy packhouse team in East Lothian. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for operating machinery used to process and pack seasonal produce, helping to ensure high standards of quality, efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate packhouse machinery in line with production requirements
- Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments where required
- Carry out daily pre-start checks and report maintenance issues
- Conduct quality checks on raw produce and finished products
- Ensure all products and packaging meet traceability requirements
- Maintain clean, safe and organised work areas
- Monitor waste and ensure correct handling and labelling procedures
- Support production operatives with quality standards and best practices
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and colleagues to achieve production targets
- Follow all health, safety and hygiene procedures

Working Hours
- Approximately 40 hours per week
- Shifts agreed with Packhouse Management
- Flexibility required, including occasional weekends and overtime during peak periods
About You
You'll be:
- Detail-oriented with experience working in a production or manufacturing environment
- Reliable, punctual and a strong team player
- Able to communicate effectively in English
- Familiar with food hygiene and health & safety practices (training can be provided)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Able to travel to the site, as public transport options may be limited
