About the role
The Reporting Optimisation team advises clients on financial reporting, accounting, and related regulatory matters across both business-as-usual activity and periods of change, including accounting and reporting change, regulatory developments, policy-driven change, and organisational restructuring. Our work combines deep technical accounting expertise with technology-enabled delivery. We embed technology into how we advise clients, using data, automation, and analytics to improve the efficiency, insight, and quality of reporting outcomes. This includes streamlining complex reporting processes, automating manual activities, and exploring the use of emerging technologies, including advanced analytics and GenAI, to help clients respond to increasingly complex reporting challenges.
Our multidisciplinary team brings deep technical expertise and broad market experience across a wide range of industries, with a particular focus on large corporates, the public sector, and regulated environments. We support senior clients as they navigate an increasingly complex and rapidly changing reporting landscape, helping them design solutions that meet operational, regulatory, and policy objectives while addressing accounting, reporting, governance, and control requirements. Our work spans the design and automation of reporting processes, the systems and data that underpin them, technical accounting, interpretation of reporting frameworks, and the practical application of accounting and reporting requirements within complex organisational and funding environments.
The Reporting Optimisation team forms part of Enterprise Risk & Forensics (ER&F), within PwC’s Consulting line of service, which helps organisations build trust and resilience by managing risk, strengthening governance, and improving the quality of information used for decision-making. Within ER&F, we work with clients to respond to increased scrutiny from regulators, auditors, and stakeholders, enhance the robustness of reporting and control frameworks, and manage risk effectively through periods of change.
What your days will look like
As a Senior Associate in the Reporting Optimisation team within Enterprise Risk & Forensics (ER&F), you will play a key role in delivering complex, technically demanding, and technology-enabled reporting engagements, supporting Managers and senior leaders across finance, accounting, and reporting advisory work.
You will work closely with clients across the corporate and wider public and regulated sectors, and collaborate with colleagues across PwC’s Consulting practice and the wider firm to deliver high-quality advice on reporting, technology, accounting, and governance matters. The role sits within the Consulting line of service and involves working with multidisciplinary teams to address complex reporting challenges.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
