Job details:
Build a scalable email design system that underpins all our email communications, transposing existing components and established patterns and principles into email, whilst identifying and creating new components & patterns necessary to support our communications ambitions.
Create responsive email templates for a breadth of email communications, such as:
- CRM and lifecycle communications
- Promotional and campaign emails
- Service communications
- Transactional emails
Making sure all design work aligns with Hastings Direct’s brand, design principles, standards, and visual language.
Create clear guidance and documentation that supports and helps maintain the consistent use of email components, patterns, and templates over time.
Creating and documenting the design system in-line with the approach and practices of the internal Customer Experience Hub.

Essential skills/experience:
- Strong experience designing and evolving digital design systems.
- Proven experience designing responsive email templates and email communication frameworks.
- Experience creating reusable components, patterns, and design libraries.
- Strong understanding of email design best practices and email client constraints.
- Excellent visual design skills with strong typography, layout, and information hierarchy.
- Experience using Figma and modern design system workflows.
- Deep understanding of accessibility standards, including WCAG AA requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of HTML email development considerations.
- Experience working with CRM and marketing automation platforms.
