About Marshalls Garden
Marshalls Garden has a heritage spanning more than 75 years and is a trusted name in gardening, supplying quality seeds, plants, bulbs, and garden equipment through both traditional mail order and ecommerce.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced digital marketer with around 3-4 years' experience in email marketing, CRM, or marketing automation, ideally within retail, ecommerce, or mail order. As Email Marketing Manager, you'll own the email, SMS, and CRM strategy for Marshalls Garden, helping to grow revenue, customer engagement, retention, and our first-party customer database.
You'll be the storyteller of the brand across our CRM channels, creating engaging campaigns while developing sophisticated customer journeys, segmentation, and marketing automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and deliver the email, SMS, and CRM marketing strategy.
- Develop customer lifecycle strategies across acquisition, engagement, retention, and reactivation.
- Build and optimise automated customer journeys, including welcome, browse abandonment, basket abandonment, post-purchase, and win-back.
- Manage customer segmentation and personalised targeting using behavioural and transactional data.
- Own the end-to-end campaign process from briefing and build through to deployment and performance analysis.
- Analyse campaign performance, customer behaviour, and commercial results to identify growth opportunities.
- Develop CRM dashboards, reporting, and actionable weekly insights.
- Drive database growth while maintaining customer engagement, data quality, and consent.
- Work with Shopify and ecommerce data to support targeting, product selection, and campaign performance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
