Historic Motorsport Operations Manager
This is a rare opportunity for an accomplished motorsport professional to take a senior leadership position within a respected historic racing operation. Working as the Director's principal operational partner, you will oversee workshop performance, race team activities, customer projects, and team development while helping shape the future growth of the business. We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for historic motorsport, proven leadership experience, and the ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery both in the workshop and at the circuit.
Leadership & Strategic Support
- Act as the principal operational support to the Director, serving as the second-in-command across workshop and racing events.
- Take responsibility for day-to-day management of workshop and race operations, enabling the Director to focus on technical specifications.
- Assist in the development and implementation of business processes, operational improvements, and quality standards.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
- Work closely with the Director to identify opportunities for business growth, customer retention, and enhancement of the company's reputation within the historic motorsport community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage workshop mechanics and support staff to ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency.
- Plan, prioritise, and manage the restoration, preparation, and rebuild projects for our customers’ cars.
- Coordinate workshop scheduling, resource allocation, and project timelines to meet customer and racing commitments.
- Ensure all vehicles are prepared, maintained, and presented to the highest standards for testing and events.
- Act as the primary point of contact between customers, drivers, engineers, suppliers, and workshop personnel.
- Manage parts procurement, inventory control, and supplier relationships.
- Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the workshop and at events.
- Develop team capability through mentoring, training, and performance management.
Race Event Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the team at race meetings, test days, and motorsport events both in the UK and Europe.
- Coordinate vehicle logistics, equipment transport, and event preparation.
- Direct trackside operations, ensuring cars are prepared, maintained, and supported throughout race weekends.
- Manage mechanics and support crew during event setup, practice sessions, qualifying, and races.
- Make operational decisions under pressure to ensure the safe and successful running of vehicles.
- Liaise with drivers, race organisers, technical officials, and customers throughout events.
- Oversee post-event inspections, reporting, debriefing and workshop follow-up activities.
- Ensure all team members maintain professional standards and represent the company positively at events.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
