Embedded C++ Engineer
Location: Glasgow, UK
The Role
We are looking for a mid-level Embedded C++ Engineer to develop software for a sophisticated robotics and automation platform.
You’ll work at the intersection of embedded software, hardware and robotics, developing the software that controls, communicates with and interfaces with complex physical machinery. This is a hands-on engineering role where your software will have a direct impact on real-world systems. You’ll work closely with engineers across software, firmware, hardware and automation, taking ownership of embedded software from design through to deployment on physical systems.
We’d Expect You to Have
- 3+ years’ commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with Embedded C++.
- Solid understanding of embedded systems and software development.
- Experience developing software for embedded Linux.
- Experience working with Yocto at the application layer.
- Experience debugging software on physical embedded hardware.
- Good understanding of hardware/software interfaces.
- Experience working on complex technical systems.
- Ability to take ownership of software components and deliver independently.
- A pragmatic approach to engineering and problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.

Beneficial Skills
- Experience with Rust.
- Rust/C++ interoperability or FFI.
- Experience with robotics or automated systems.
- Real-time or high-performance embedded software.
- Experience with sensors, actuators and hardware interfaces.
- Experience with communication protocols and device interfaces.
- Experience with embedded build systems and deployment.
- Experience in scientific, industrial, manufacturing or other highly automated environments.

The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging embedded software where your code directly interacts with the physical world.
