About Us

Founded in 2006, AVS Added Value Solutions is a leading high-tech engineering company with 20 years of experience delivering complex, pivotal projects across Fusion Energy, Scientific Innovation, Particle Accelerators, and Space. Our track record includes three proprietary LUR-family satellites currently in orbit, which have successfully demonstrated the maturity of our platform architecture, subsystems, and LEO operations. Building on this flight heritage, we leverage our modular LUR-100 platform to support demanding institutional missions, including the ESA ARRAKIHS project and the development of the Canary Islands Satellite Constellation (Constelación Canaria). To drive these ambitious initiatives forward, we are currently scaling our Space Division to advance our SmallSat capabilities.

About the Role

As an Embedded Flight Software Engineer, you will be the technical backbone of our satellite software development and verification processes. You will bridge the gap between high-level system requirements and flight-ready code, ensuring the highest standards of reliability and performance. Beyond development, you will play a central role in the validation of our SmallSat software, acting as a key contributor to the quality and flightworthiness of our modular satellite platforms as we scale our production and integration capabilities in our Vitoria and Elgóibar facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the engineering team in designing and implementing embedded software for satellite On-Board Computers (OBC), utilizing frameworks such as NASA’s Core Flight System (cFS) or similar.
  • Execute high-precision verification and validation tasks, including the development of unit tests and integration tests to ensure 100% test coverage and code reliability.
  • Design and maintain software modules for critical communication protocols such as SpaceWire (SpW), CAN/CANOpen, and PUS standards.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, design patterns, and software requirements to ensure traceability, maintainability, and scalability across the codebase.
  • Maintain a robust, high-quality development environment, utilizing Linux-based tools and static analysis frameworks (e.g., Coverity, SonarQube, clang-tidy) to ensure mission-critical standards.
  • Perform detailed analysis of telemetry frames and system behavior to validate software requirements during integration phases.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We Are Looking For

We welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds and recognize that great talent comes from various paths. If you meet most of the following criteria, we encourage you to apply:

  • Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-paced SME or compact team environment where resourcefulness, pragmatism, and hands-on problem-solving are essential.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in embedded software development for real-time systems, including bare-metal programming and RTOS environments (e.g., FreeRTOS, RTEMS, VxWorks).
  • Proficiency in C and Python, with a strong ability to interpret hardware schematics and interface with embedded SoC architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex M-4, LEON3FT).
  • While space experience is highly preferred, we are looking for candidates with experience in similarly structured, highly regulated markets such as Automotive, Defense, or Medical.
  • Ability to work in Linux-based development environments using Git, CMake, and automated testing frameworks like Robot Framework.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a disciplined approach to following standardized quality protocols and design guidelines.
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly, mentor junior engineers, and support integration efforts.
  • Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
