Embedded Software Engineer

Newcastle Upon Tyne (5 days onsite)
Salary: £40,000 - £100,000

We're supporting a growing defence technology consultancy building advanced engineering solutions for complex and demanding environments.
They are looking for Embedded Software Engineers across all levels, from graduates through to technical specialists, to develop high-performance and reliable systems.

You'll work on challenging engineering problems involving embedded platforms, low-level development, and secure technology solutions.

  • Developing low-level software using C, C++, Rust, or similar languages
  • Building solutions for embedded, real-time, and resource-constrained environments
  • Working with hardware interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN bus
  • Developing and optimising high-performance systems
  • Supporting secure and high-assurance engineering practices
  • Working with Linux environments, toolchains, and build systems
  • Improving system reliability, performance, and efficiency

What they're looking for:

  • Experience with low-level programming languages such as C, C++, Rust, or C
  • Knowledge of embedded systems or real-time software development
  • Understanding of hardware/software interaction
  • Experience with Linux and development toolchains
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with real-time operating systems, safety-critical development, high-performance computing, or defence environments would be advantageous.
