Embedded Software/Verification Engineer
Location: Leicester (Hybrid)
Type: Contract - Outside IR35
Contract Length: 12 Months (Possible Extension)
Hourly Rate: £45 - £60
We are seeking a Software Verification & Requirements Engineer to join a safety-critical aerospace programme supporting the verification, validation and certification of embedded software systems developed to DO-178C standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, analyse and verify high-level and low-level software requirements.
- Develop verification strategies, test plans, test procedures and test reports.
- Perform requirements-based testing, software integration testing and verification activities.
- Support requirements traceability, coverage analysis and certification evidence generation.
- Conduct software reviews, defect investigations and verification assessments.
- Work closely with systems, software and certification teams to ensure compliance with DO-178C processes and objectives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of verification methodologies, test frameworks and engineering processes.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience working within a DO-178C software development or verification environment.
- Background in software verification, validation (V&V) or requirements engineering.
- Experience with requirements-based testing and software integration testing.
- Strong understanding of software lifecycle, traceability and certification activities.
- Experience using requirements management tools such as DOORS, JAMA or similar.
- Ability to review software requirements, test results and engineering documentation.
- Experience in aerospace, avionics or other safety-critical industries.

Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with VectorCAST, Rapita, LDRA, Parasoft or similar verification tools.
- Experience with structural coverage analysis and MC/DC coverage activities.
- Exposure to C, Embedded C or Python.
- Experience producing certification artefacts and supporting audits.
- Knowledge of software assurance, airworthiness or aerospace certification processes.
