About Dotplot
Dotplot is developing a breast health monitoring tool that empowers women to perform accurate monthly breast self-checks at home. Our mobile app works alongside a handheld ultrasound device to guide users through the scan in real time while capturing location-specific ultrasound images for analysis.
Our mission is to improve breast health awareness and support earlier detection of breast cancer through intuitive, user-friendly technology.
The Role
We are looking for a driven, hands-on Embedded Systems & Integration Engineer to join our London-based core team and help take our handheld ultrasound device towards a robust, production-ready medical device. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of the systems that connect our ultrasound hardware, firmware and mobile application.
You will be responsible for developing and improving our embedded firmware, integrating hardware and sensors, and enabling reliable transfer of ultrasound images and device data. You will also ensure seamless communication between our device and mobile application.
You will work across firmware, electronics and system integration, collaborating closely with our founders, app developers, manufacturing partners, and technical and regulatory advisors. You’ll enjoy this role if you like solving practical, cross-disciplinary engineering problems and seeing your work translate directly into a product people can use.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across firmware, electronics, communications and mobile-device interactions.
- Build diagnostics, logging, unit and integration tests to improve device reliability.
- Support hardware revisions, board development and the transition from prototype to production-ready hardware.
- Work with our manufacturing partner to optimise firmware and address technical and production risks.
- Maintain software requirements, design documentation, test evidence, and traceability appropriate for a regulated medical device.
What We Are Looking For
- Strong hands-on embedded firmware development experience in C/C++.
