Embedded Software Engineer – IoT

Location: Kingston Upon Thames
Rate: £60pphr + VAT, outside IR35
Onsite: 2-3 days per week onsite.
Duration: 15 months

Role Overview

We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to develop firmware for connected IoT products, working closely with electronics, hardware, cloud, and product engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for IoT devices.
  • Develop robust, efficient software primarily in C/C++.
  • Work with microcontrollers, sensors, peripherals, and communication interfaces.
  • Develop and integrate drivers using SPI, I²C, UART, GPIO, ADC, and PWM.
  • Develop applications using RTOS or bare-metal architectures.
  • Develop power-management strategies for battery-powered devices.
  • Implement secure boot, device security, and OTA firmware updates where required.

Technical Skills

Essential:

  • Strong embedded C/C++ development experience.
  • Microcontroller-based systems.
  • Embedded debugging using JTAG/SWD and laboratory test equipment.
  • Hardware/software integration.
  • Git and modern software development practices.
  • Good understanding of digital electronics and embedded architectures.
