Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Bristol, UK (some remote work is possible)
We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our partners aerospace engineering team, contributing to the development, testing and delivery of high-quality embedded software solutions.
You will work on a range of embedded systems projects, collaborating with other engineers and contributing across the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and test embedded software for microcontrollers and embedded systems.
- Develop efficient, reliable and maintainable software, primarily using C and low-level programming techniques.
- Contribute to software requirements, architecture and technical documentation.
- Debug and resolve software and hardware integration issues.
- Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement activities.
- Support software verification, validation and certification.
- Work with a range of processor architectures and hardware environments.

Essential Experience
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, Science, Mathematics or a related subject.
- Strong C programming skills, with knowledge of assembler or low-level programming.
- Good verification experience.
- Experience working within a structured or controlled software development environment.
- Good understanding of embedded systems and software development practices.
Advantageous Experience
- Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Low-level/processor-level embedded development, particularly ARM.
- Software requirements and configuration management.
- Networking protocols such as TCP/UDP.
- Embedded software security and multicore systems.
- ARM, MIPS or Power architectures.
- Commercial product development.

About You
You are a proactive and motivated engineer who can work independently or as part of a small team. You take ownership of your work, have strong problem-solving and communication skills, and are committed to delivering high-quality results.
You will be comfortable working with customers and colleagues at all levels and building effective working relationships.
Based in our Bristol office, with travel as required.
