Location: Oxford (Fully Remote with occasional visits to the Oxford office)
Contract Length: Initial 6 months
Rate: £60–£65 per hour (Outside IR35 if applicable)

Zenovo is partnering with an innovative engineering company developing cutting-edge technology within the electrical power and power electronics sector. Due to continued project growth, they are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join their highly skilled engineering team on an initial six-month contract.

This is a specialist role where knowledge of power systems theory is just as important as embedded software development. You'll be joining a team responsible for developing new functionality for advanced protection relay products used throughout electrical transmission and distribution networks.

The Role

Working within an experienced engineering team, you'll develop embedded software for protection relay products that monitor, protect, and control electrical power systems. You'll be involved in implementing new protection features, enhancing existing functionality, and supporting testing activities.

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of how electricity is transmitted and distributed through substations and be comfortable applying AC power system theory within embedded software development.

Essential Experience:

  • Strong embedded software development experience using C and C++.
  • A strong understanding of AC power systems, including transmission and distribution networks.
  • Experience developing products or systems used within electrical substations, power distribution, or power protection environments.
  • Able to understand and implement power protection algorithms within embedded software.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61850 or other power system communication protocols
