Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++)
Rate: £70.00 per hour (Inside IR35)
Contract: 37 hours per week
Duration: Initial 6-month contract
Location: Bristol – Onsite
Certain Advantage is hiring for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a leading defence company.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Verification & Validation (V&V) activities for real-time embedded software applications.
- Translate software requirements into comprehensive test cases and structured test procedures.
- Prepare, execute, and document software tests, ensuring accurate data capture and analysis.
- Provide clear, actionable feedback to engineering and project teams to support software quality and continuous improvement.
- Investigate issues, troubleshoot complex problems, and support software integration activities.
- Work within laboratory environments, testing embedded software on electro-mechanical systems.

The Individual:
- Proven experience delivering V&V activities within an embedded software environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to debugging.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.
- Experience converting software requirements into structured test cases and test procedures.
- Hands-on experience testing embedded software on electro-mechanical products in a laboratory environment.
- Good understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
- Scripting experience to support automation and testing activities.
- Embedded software development experience using C/C++.
