Embedded Software Engineer – C / FreeRTOS

Are you an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with strong C programming and FreeRTOS experience, looking to work with innovative touch technologies?

This company specialises in developing bespoke hardware and firmware silicon devices. Their products serve the automotive and industrial sectors, providing cutting-edge solutions that ensure high-quality customer integration.

They are seeking a talented Embedded Software Engineer to join their engineering team in Fareham, UK, contributing to the development of their next-generation technology.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement embedded software: Develop efficient, low-level code in C for microcontrollers and embedded systems, ensuring optimal performance, resource usage, and reliability.
  • FreeRTOS development: Develop and maintain embedded software using FreeRTOS, working with real-time operating system concepts and ensuring reliable system performance.
  • Debugging and testing: Use debugging tools and methods, such as JTAG and oscilloscopes, to troubleshoot hardware/software interactions, optimise code, and perform system validation through unit and integration testing.
  • Develop new features: Contribute to the development of new features and functionality to meet market requirements on RISC-V-based platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Physics, or a related field, with a 2:1 classification or higher.
  • Proven practical experience in embedded C programming.
  • Experience working with FreeRTOS or another real-time operating system.
  • Must have experience with GIT/Source control.
  • Proficient in software unit testing and able to demonstrate a strong aptitude for numeracy.
  • Working knowledge of ISO9000 standards and version control systems.
  • Experience with USB firmware and low-level USB protocols would be highly desirable.
