Job Summary
The role involves developing, testing, and supporting embedded software used in the operation and control of downhole drilling tools. The engineer will work on new software features, product enhancements, and testing activities while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable and field-ready solutions for harsh operating environments.
Typical Responsibilities And Duties
- Develop and maintain embedded software using C/C++
- Design, implement, test, and debug software for embedded systems
- Support system integration, verification, and validation activities
- Create and maintain functional and technical documentation
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues using debugging and diagnostic tools
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical problem solving
- Maintain accurate work tracking, prioritize development tasks, and support Agile software development practices
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Embedded Software Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computing & Electronics Engineering, or a related field (recent graduate with less than 2 years of experience)
- Experience programming in C/C++ for embedded systems
- Familiarity with hardware and software debugging tools, emulators, simulators, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
- Experience using version control systems such as Git/GitHub
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience with unit testing methodologies
- Experience with RTOS such as FreeRTOS or OpenRTOS
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M processors
- Experience with National Instruments hardware and software tools
- Experience in FPGA development using VHDL or Verilog
- Understanding of electrical schematics
