Embedded Software Engineer – Embedded Linux / RTOS
South East London | £65,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
We're looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with strong Embedded Linux and C/C++ development experience to join a team developing high-performance, real-time embedded software for mission-critical systems.
Working across the full software lifecycle, you'll design, develop, integrate and validate software running on dedicated hardware platforms, collaborating closely with hardware and systems engineers to deliver robust, reliable solutions.
What you'll be doing
- Develop and maintain embedded software in C/C++.
- Design software for Embedded Linux and real-time operating systems.
- Develop multi-threaded, deterministic software for embedded applications.
- Integrate software with custom hardware platforms.
- Support software architecture, debugging, testing and validation.
- Develop GUI applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS and Node.js where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and mentor junior engineers.

Essential experience
- Strong commercial experience developing embedded software in C/C++.
- Embedded Linux development experience (essential).
- Experience working with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks, Linux RT or FreeRTOS.
- Good understanding of multi-threading, task scheduling and real-time software concepts.
- Experience integrating software with embedded hardware.
- Experience using Git and modern software development practices.

- VxWorks development experience.
- Python, Bash or PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with GUI technologies including JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js.
