EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER
£60 per hour via Umbrella
Initial 6-month contract
3 days per week onsite in Portsmouth
SC Clearance required
ABOUT THE CLIENT
We are recruiting for an innovative technology organisation seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join its Advanced Developments Group (ADG).
The ADG is a small, highly innovative team focused on developing cutting-edge technology solutions for key customers. Due to increased demand, they're looking for an engineer who can develop and prototype embedded software solutions before taking proven concepts through to deployment standard.
THE EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER ROLE
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you'll use your technical expertise to prototype innovative wireless solutions and develop embedded software and firmware across real-time embedded platforms.
You'll primarily work with C/C++, developing software for embedded Linux environments and taking innovative prototypes through to a deployment-ready standard.

The role will involve working across both bare-metal and embedded Linux environments, including development on platforms such as MicroBlaze and RISC-V, as well as configuring and deploying embedded Linux systems in offline environments.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with strong C/C++ development skills and practical experience working across embedded systems.
You'll ideally have:
- Proven experience programming embedded systems using C/C++
- Strong experience working across bare-metal and embedded Linux environments
- Experience developing Linux device drivers
- Knowledge of DMA, interrupts and device trees
- Experience with Buildroot and/or Yocto
- Experience with U-Boot and Linux Kernel configuration
- Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
- Knowledge or experience of Software Defined Radio (SDR)
