Embedded Software Engineer – Aerospace

Bristol | Circa £50,000

I’m recruiting two Embedded Software Engineers on behalf of a specialist technology company developing high-integrity software for safety-critical applications.

The team is looking to appoint one engineer with a stronger software development background and another focused on software verification. These positions would suit engineers with around five years’ experience in aerospace or another tightly regulated sector, such as automotive, medical devices or defence.

The role

Depending on your background, you will contribute to either the development or verification of embedded software, including:

  • Developing and testing embedded software in C
  • Producing software requirements, design documents and test documentation
  • Verifying software against recognised aerospace and safety standards
  • Supporting RTOS software across different processor architectures
  • Debugging software and hardware integration issues
  • Participating in code reviews, configuration management and controlled development processes
  • Supporting product validation, certification and deployment

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience with FreeRTOS, SAFERTOS, ARM Cortex processors, assembly language, TCP/UDP networking or embedded security would be advantageous.

These are documentation-intensive aerospace positions, so they will particularly suit methodical engineers who enjoy traceability, verification and structured engineering processes alongside technical software work.

Applicants should ideally already hold the right to work in the UK.
