Embroidery Production and DFT Print Team Leader

Location: Neyland, Pembrokeshire, Wales

Simon Safety is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly organised Print & Embroidery Production team leader to join our garment branding and warehouse team in Pembrokeshire.

This is a hands-on role for someone with proven experience operating four - or eight-head embroidery machinery. You will help produce high-quality branded clothing and merchandise using multi-head embroidery, DTF printing and heat-press application.

Working closely with our sales and customer service team, warehouse and account management teams, you will ensure every order is produced accurately, efficiently and on time. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, solving production challenges and taking pride in achieving an excellent finish. Our aim is for you to be multi skilled so that you can move between departments so that you continue to learn and develop new skills.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Embroidery and garment production

  • Set up, operate and monitor multi-head embroidery machines.
  • Frame and load garments and other textile products accurately.
  • Work from approved embroidery files, including DST and EMB formats.
  • Select and change threads, needles, backings and other production materials.
  • Adjust thread tension, positioning and machine settings to achieve the correct result.
  • Complete test logo fabric swatches and production samples before progressing to full production.
  • Monitor embroidery throughout each production run, identifying and correcting issues promptly.
  • Carry out routine machine cleaning, care and basic maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot common production and machine problems, escalating technical issues where necessary.

DTF printing and heat-press application

  • Print DTF transfers in accordance with approved artwork and production instructions.
  • Set up and operate heat presses using the appropriate time, temperature and pressure.
  • Apply transfers accurately to garments and other suitable products.
  • Check adhesion, positioning, colour and finish before completing each production run.
  • Maintain accurate settings and production information for repeat orders.

Lead the branding team in Production coordination and quality control:

  • Review job sheets, artwork, branding specifications and delivery deadlines before production begins.
  • Plan and prioritise workload to keep orders moving through production efficiently.
  • Inspect finished garments to ensure branding position, colour, finish and overall quality meet the approved specification.
  • Record and report production issues, wastage or discrepancies promptly.
  • Trial new garments and products to establish the most effective branding method and settings.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality-control records.
  • Count, check, fold and pack completed orders ready for dispatch.
  • Monitor consumable stock levels and highlight replenishment requirements.
  • Work collaboratively and supervise colleagues to maximise daily production targets and client deadlines.
  • Support the wider warehouse team with kitting, manufacturing and fulfilment when required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised production area.
  • Follow Simon Safety’s health and safety, quality and environmental management procedures.

What we’re looking for:

Essential

  • Previous hands-on experience operating single, 4-head and eight-head embroidery machines.
  • A good understanding of garment framing, thread changes, tension adjustment and embroidery quality control.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy.
  • The ability to inspect your own work and identify problems before an order progresses.
  • Strong organisation and supervision skills, with the ability to manage the department, production process to achieve daily/ weekly / monthly targets and KPI’s.
  • A calm, practical and proactive approach to solving production problems.
  • Reliability, flexibility and a willingness to support colleagues when priorities change.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to raise questions or concerns promptly.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a busy team.

Desirable

  • Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
    • DTF printing and heat-press application.
    • Barudan or other embroidery software.
    • DFT RIP software and digital print.
    • Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Creative Cloud.
    • Branded clothing, garment alterations or textile production.
    • Working within documented quality-control or manufacturing processes.

Full training will be provided on Simon Safety’s equipment and production procedures. However, a minimum of 2 years multi-head embroidery experience is required for this position.
