Title

EMC Consultant

Salary range: £60,000 to £80,000 per annum

Location: Bristol, Burton or Glasgow is preferable but would consider any office for the right candidate.

Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

Closing date: 5th September 2026 (early applications encouraged)


The Electronic, Electrical & Instrumentation area is looking for EMC Consultants to join our respected and thriving specialist teams. We're looking for motivated individuals with industrial experience who are determined to solve complex engineering problems in highly regulated, safety-critical industries. If you're technically capable, curious, and motivated by challenging projects, you would be a great fit.


About The Team

The Electronics & Embedded group operates to deliver robust and assured real-world operational technologies. Our sister Control and Instrumentation (C&I) teams provide engineering support across the full project lifecycle creating robust, compliant, and innovative control solutions built for today’s most demanding environments.


What You’ll Do

You’ll become part of a highly respected team, who work across a wide range of projects and markets from defence to transport, energy transition and renewables. We’re looking for engineers who want to contribute beyond technical analysis and who can deliver end-to-end consultancy. You’ll have the opportunity to set the direction of your career and play a key role in complex programmes.

Duties And Responsibilities

You will be expected to:

  • Establish verification and validation strategies (pre-compliance, compliance, regression testing), risk assessment methodologies and mitigation strategies.
  • Support design activities with Control Plans for new and legacy products and platforms; conduct gap analysis of engineering activities against current Control Plans and develop Test Plans to quantify these.
  • Assist with managing desktop audits of EMC-related documentation. Review accomplishments, change proposals, test reports and act as independent EMC auditor at audit and compliance reviews.
  • Participate in EMC effects discussions and risk assessments and support test planning.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to knowledge management.

Experience Required

  • Experience in regulated industries (automotive, aerospace, medical, defence).
  • Experience implementing EMC governance frameworks.

Solid Understanding Of

  • Electromagnetic theory and the application to Electrical or Electronic systems as Design for EMC
  • Process/systematic control measures for compliance
  • Technical/detailed design control measures for compliance
  • Experience working to defence (DEFSTAN and JSP) and civilian (UKCA) regulations
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical engineering controls.
  • Experience developing and reviewing EMC strategies, plans and outputs.
  • Direct experience of circuit-level or system-level design for EMC
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Leadership or consultancy experience
