Indirect Tax Manager

We are seeking an Indirect Tax Manager to join our Global Tax team. This newly created role will be responsible for:

About the Role

Providing EMEA VAT support across the Jellycat business by leading and executing VAT-focused projects (including process improvement, compliance, and systems), and delivering on the global tax strategy.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Collaboration with business teams on cross-border indirect tax matters and omni-channel transactions (e.g., wholesale, e-commerce).
  • Ensuring indirect tax knowledge aligns with our goods-based business model.

Responsibilities

Compliance

  • Manage process and control environments to ensure timely, accurate EMEA indirect tax compliance.
  • Work with Accounting teams to build in-house capabilities and manage external outsourcing relationships.
  • Design and deliver indirect tax compliance processes for ERP implementation and Finance transformation (focusing on the UK and Netherlands).

Advisory

  • Review new and existing operations and strategies from an indirect tax perspective, including supply chain design.
  • Monitor registration requirements and legislative developments across EMEA and communicate impacts.
  • Promote VAT awareness through knowledge sharing and training.

Governance and Strategy

  • Contribute to indirect tax controls and processes that support our global tax strategy.
  • Implement indirect tax guidance across business activities (e.g., free gifts) to enable informed decision-making.

Systems and Technology

  • Support the design and review of indirect tax requirements for systems (e.g., Vertex).
  • Work with IT teams to enhance indirect tax reporting capabilities, with particular focus on data quality.

Requirements

Essential

  • 5+ years of demonstrable experience in UK and European indirect tax, with Big 4 professional firms or multinational companies.
  • A Chartered Tax Advisor qualification or equivalent tax-related credential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a sense of urgency and quick execution skills.
  • Strong independent problem-solving abilities and initial view development on complex challenges.
  • Excellent time management and project management skills for handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong English proficiency; other languages are beneficial.

Desirable

  • Proficiency in financial and tax software, including Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Vertex experience.

Please note: This is a one-year fixed-term contract.
