Emergency Response Driver Trainer (Class 4 Vehicles – LGV) | 10834 | Permanent
Contract | 37 hours per week | £32,061 to £39,152 per annum (Scale G - I) | Bowthorpe, Norwich
Are you looking to continue your operational driving and instructional skills in a role that makes a real difference? Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service is seeking an Emergency Response Driver Trainer to join our team in developing safe, competent, and confident drivers.

About the Role
You will deliver theoretical and practical driver training to Service personnel, ensuring they can safely operate our fleet, including specialist vehicles and trailers, in both routine and emergency response conditions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering structured driver training and preparing candidates for assessment
- Assessing driver competence against Nationally approved standards
- Providing clear, constructive feedback to support development and performance
- Producing reports and maintaining accurate training records
- Contributing to ongoing training plans and continuous improvement
This is a hands-on role where your expertise will directly influence operational readiness, safety, and performance.

- Proven experience delivering driver training to National standards
- Experience assessing drivers against recognised competencies
- A full UK LGV (Category C) licence held for a minimum of 3 years, with no endorsements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to give clear, constructive, and confident feedback
- A team-oriented approach with a focus on safety, consistency, and professionalism
Experience

- Emergency response driving
- Emergency response driving instruction
We understand that not all candidates will have Response driving or instructional experience. We are committed to supporting development and training will be provided where required to the right candidate. Starting salary will reflect your experience and qualifications.
