Contract details
Contract type: Fixed-term contract, 6 to 9 months, 2-3 days per week.
Start date: September 2026
Location: Remote/Hybrid (London office). You must overlap with UK working hours
Day rate: Depending on experience
Reports to: Head of Sustainability
About Zevero
Zevero is a carbon accounting platform and advisory company. We operate in the UK, Japan and Singapore. Our platform calculates company and product emissions. An internal emission engine supplies the emission factors for these calculations. The engine holds more than 100,000 factors from sources such as DEFRA, Ecoinvent, IEA, US EPA and Japanese government datasets.
The role
You will help run the maintenance of our emission factors in our engine while a senior team member is on leave. You will make the decisions that keep our factors correct, current and defensible. This is a specialist role.

- Assess new factor databases before we adopt them. Check boundaries, gases, units, vintages and source quality.
- Decide how a new published factor maps into our engine. Ensure each transformation is documented, for example unit conversions or gas coverage adjustments.
- Answer factor and methodology questions from our consultants and our Japan team.
- Support audit and client assurance requests. Trace any factor back to its published source.
- Run the monthly factor update cycle with our data analyst.
- Find factor errors before clients do. Run and improve our quality checks.
What you must have
- Deep knowledge of emission factor databases, for example DEFRA, Ecoinvent, IEA, EXIOBASE or EEIO models.
- Strong knowledge of the GHG Protocol, including Scope 3 categories.
- Experience of decisions on factor boundaries, gases, units and data quality.
- Experience that lets you defend a factor choice in an audit.
- Confident spreadsheet and data skills.

What is good to have
- Experience with Japanese datasets, for example IDEA, Ministry of Environment, or 3EID.
- Experience with carbon accounting software or factor APIs.
- Experience with SBTi target validation or product footprints.
