Help young people build confidence, explore their creativity and prepare for working life.
UP is recruiting an engaging, supportive tutor to deliver a City & Guilds Level 2 employability programme with a creative enterprise twist to a group of 10–15 young people aged 16-19 years old.
Based in Croydon, UP brings together business support, workspace, and creative opportunities. This new programme will help young people develop practical workplace skills through activities that connect employability with creativity and enterprise.
The opportunity
- Location: UP, Croydon Just off Purley Way, in person.
- Pay: £17-£20 per hour, depending on experience, plus applicable holiday pay.
- Contract: Part-time, fixed-term, covering three six-week teaching blocks — 18 teaching weeks in total.
- You will be completing a TAQA assessing qualification alongside the job role.
- Start date: 2 November 2026 TBC
- Teaching hours: Two days per week, 9.30am–3pm, including a 30-minute break. Monday - Tuesday
- Preparation time: Two additional paid hours per week for preparation and learner recordkeeping.
- Resources: Curriculum and assessment reporting materials provided.
We are holding an open day on 14th October 2026. We would welcome the successful candidate’s involvement, subject to availability and completion of the appropriate recruitment checks. Agreed attendance and induction time will be paid.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering practical, engaging sessions using the supplied curriculum.
- Helping learners develop communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and workplace skills.
- Bringing enterprise to life through activities such as developing a business idea, responding to a creative brief, or presenting a project.
- Adapting activities to different abilities, confidence levels, and learning needs.
- Supporting learners to complete activities and gather evidence of their progress.
- Maintaining attendance, progress, and assessment records using the materials provided.
- Working with the UP team to support learner wellbeing, participation, and achievement.
- Following UP’s safeguarding procedures and maintaining professional boundaries.
Who we’re looking for
You could come from employability training, youth work, enterprise support, vocational learning, or a creative industry background with experience delivering workshops.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience leading learning activities or workshops for teenagers.
- Can manage a small group with warmth, confidence, and clear expectations.
- Understands employability and can connect learning to real workplace situations.
- Has an interest in creative enterprise, freelancing, or small business.
- Is organised, reliable, and comfortable completing learner records.
- Is committed to helping young people with different backgrounds and needs succeed.

A formal teaching qualification is not essential. We value relevant experience, practical skills, and the ability to engage young people. Experience delivering accredited programmes or supporting learners who have found traditional education challenging would be an advantage.
