Salary: FC5 - £29,170.80 to £31,761.26 (Pro-Rata)

Working Pattern: 30 Hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Job Details

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced employability professional to join Bell Baxter High School as an Employability Officer working with young people from S1-S6.

Within the role you would be collaborating proactively with members of the Fife Council Education Services (FCES), Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) and Destinations Team to promote and implement initiatives that up-skill young people for the World of Work. This post will assist young people to access pathways to skill development and sustain employment.

The purpose of the role is to support the young people, school staff and other stakeholders to engage with employers to promote opportunity for participants to gain key labour market skills, work experience and employment.

The Person

Essential Skills:

  • Education to SCQF level 6, which includes Highers, or SVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of vocational qualifications
  • Effective communication skills - oral and written
  • Moderate experience and a proven track record of supporting a wide range of clients who face barriers to employment
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and that of a team
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with employers, those from other agencies, training providers and partners.
  • Experience in use of Microsoft computer packages

Desirable Skills:

  • Assessor qualification
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to support and motivate learners in a training environment
  • Experience of managing/leading on delivery of training courses

You will be required to:

  • Support participants throughout training journey and feedback relevant information to Senior staff.
  • Collate and record data relating to requirements of National Improvement Framework.
  • Supervise and support learners during skills training to ensure training objective and tasks are achieved to appropriate standards and agreed timescales.
  • Coach and mentor learners to assist with training/learning interventions appropriate to individual needs.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of the training course delivery to support continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of training specific to participant and staff needs.
  • Contribute to networking meetings and events with partner agencies.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement culture of the service by driving excellence in service delivery
  • Ensure that all training sites/ establishments always implement and maintain the relevant legislation and policies.

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.

You will be required to use digital platforms in all aspects of the job with working from home and in the community a main feature of this activity.
