Employability Service Manager
Location: Wirral
Salary: Up to £38,862 per annum
Benefits: 25 Days Holiday, Bank Holidays, Pension
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Service Manager to lead the delivery of an Individual Placement and Support (IPS) programme across The Wirral.
This is an opportunity for a proven employability, welfare-to-work or health employability services leader who can develop high-performing Employment Specialists, work closely with commissioners and health partners, and deliver excellent outcomes for people facing complex barriers to employment.
The role involves:
- Leading and developing a team of Employment Specialists to deliver outstanding employment outcomes.
- Managing performance against contractual targets, KPIs, service standards, and IPS Fidelity requirements.
- Supporting individuals with health conditions, disabilities, and other complex barriers to move into sustainable employment.
- Building strong relationships with commissioners, NHS teams, referral partners, and local stakeholders.
- Driving a high-performance culture through coaching, quality reviews, and performance management.
- Monitoring service quality, customer experience, and continuous improvement activity.
- Managing operational delivery, financial performance, and contractual compliance.
- Providing performance reports and service updates to senior stakeholders.

You'll need:
- Experience managing Employment Advisors, Employment Specialists, Job Coaches, or similar employability teams.
- A track record of achieving performance targets within IPS, Supported Employment, Welfare to Work, Employability, Skills, or Health programmes.
- Experience working with commissioners, funding bodies, NHS partners, or other key stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of supporting individuals with health conditions, disabilities, or multiple barriers into employment.
- Proven ability to drive KPI performance, staff engagement, and customer outcomes.
- Experience managing quality, compliance, and contractual requirements.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, resilient, and commercially aware approach to service delivery.
Due to the nature of this role, you will be a vehicle driver with access to your own vehicle. You will be required to complete an online Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and you will have access to your own vehicle as you will travel across the region.
