The Health Insurance Group is offering an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and personable individual to join our Employee Benefits team as an Employee Benefits Consultant.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in employee benefits, insurance or financial services. Whether you already have experience within the sector or are looking to transfer your skills from customer service, sales, administration or another professional environment, we will provide the training, support and development needed to build your knowledge and progress within the role.
You will work alongside experienced consultants, gain hands-on experience working with UK businesses and have the opportunity to study towards industry-recognised professional qualifications, fully funded by The Health Insurance Group.
Prior knowledge or experience within the employee benefits sector is not essential but would be advantageous.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a professional approach and a genuine interest in developing a career within employee benefits.

Our consultants work closely with clients to understand their business, recommend suitable employee benefits and provide ongoing support throughout the life of their policies.
The Role
You will join an experienced team and develop your knowledge across the employee benefits market, working with a range of UK businesses and their employees.
Initially, you will focus on healthcare products such as Private Medical Insurance, Health Cash Plans and Dental Insurance. As your knowledge and experience develops, you will also gain exposure to Group Risk products including Group Life, Group Income Protection and Group Critical Illness.

The role combines client relationship management, consultancy, administration, and business development, giving you the opportunity to develop into a well-rounded Employee Benefits Consultant.
You will receive ongoing support and training from experienced consultants while gradually taking greater ownership of your own portfolio of micro and SME clients.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and developing a portfolio of SME clients, with support as required.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships through telephone, email and virtual meetings.
- Supporting clients throughout the policy lifecycle, including renewals, reviews and mid-term adjustments.
- Obtaining quotations from insurers and comparing available market options.
- Preparing client recommendations and supporting documentation.
- Assisting with policy administration and membership changes.
- Liaising with insurers to negotiate terms and resolve client queries.
- Identifying opportunities to introduce additional employee benefit solutions where appropriate.
- Maintaining accurate client records and ensuring compliance with FCA requirements.
- Providing a consistently high standard of customer service.
- Developing technical knowledge across healthcare and Group Risk products.
- Taking increasing responsibility for your own clients and portfolio as your experience develops.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress towards independently managing their own portfolio of clients and conducting renewal and review meetings.

Experience & Skills
Previous experience within the employee benefits sector is not essential, although prior knowledge of employee benefits would be useful.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Prior customer service experience, ideally in a professional, sales, financial services, insurance, retail or hospitality environment.
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A confident and professional telephone manner.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good numerical and written communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership.
- A genuine desire to learn and develop a career within employee benefits.
- The ability to build strong and lasting professional relationships.
Employee benefits experience is not a prerequisite. We are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong transferable skills, the right attitude and the ability to learn.
Working Arrangement
To ensure you receive the best possible introduction to the role, you will be office-based at our Sutton Coldfield office for the first three months.
Following successful completion of your training and probation, you will have the opportunity to work flexibly through a hybrid working arrangement.
