Employee Experience & Community Engagement Specialist

Reports to: HR Business Partner

The Employee Experience & Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for designing and delivering programmes that create an engaging employee experience from recruitment through onboarding and beyond. This role leads initiatives that strengthen organisational culture, build strategic partnerships with universities and community organisations, and enhance the company's employer brand and employee value proposition (EVP). Working closely with the Marketing function, the successful candidate will help position the organisation as an employer of choice, and will collaborate across Human Resources and business functions to develop programmes that attract, engage, and retain top talent.

This position is based on-site in Droitwich.

Key Accountabilities

Employee Experience

  • Design and implement employee experience initiatives that improve engagement, inclusion, and retention.
  • Coordinate employee recognition programmes, engagement events, and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Analyse employee feedback through surveys, focus groups, and other listening channels to recommend improvements.
  • Partner with HR leadership to implement action plans that strengthen workplace culture.
  • Monitor employee experience metrics and recommend continuous improvements.

Onboarding

  • Own the end-to-end onboarding experience for new starters.
  • Coordinate induction programmes and onboarding schedules.
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure new employees have a successful transition into the organisation.
  • Develop onboarding materials, guides, and digital resources.
  • Measure onboarding effectiveness through surveys, feedback, and retention metrics.

Community Engagement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organisations, not-for-profit partners, and workforce development agencies.
  • Coordinate volunteering events, charitable initiatives, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
  • Promote employee participation in community engagement programmes.
  • Represent the organisation at community events and networking opportunities.

University Relations

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with universities and colleges.
  • Coordinate campus recruitment events, careers fairs, internships, placements, and MBA recruitment programmes.
  • Develop internship, placement, and early careers talent programmes.
  • Collaborate with academic institutions on partnerships, presentations, and employer branding initiatives.
  • Track recruitment effectiveness and conversion metrics for university hiring.

Employer Brand

  • Work closely with the Marketing function to build and optimise LinkedIn and other social media channels that promote the local Data Centre employer of choice Brand to local external audiences.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Employee Experience CofE to develop a localised plan to Partner with Marketing to plan, create, and publish content that showcases the employee experience, workplace culture, and colleague stories.
  • Ensure local engagement, community, and recruitment events are published and promoted across relevant social media and careers channels.
  • Manage and enhance the organisation's presence on employer review platforms such as Glassdoor — including monitoring, responding to, and encouraging reviews — to build an employer of choice reputation.
  • Develop and champion a consistent employer brand narrative across all external touchpoints, in collaboration with Marketing and Talent Acquisition.
  • Develop analytics and reporting to measure social media reach and engagement, EVP awareness, and Glassdoor ratings, and to demonstrate improvement over time.
  • Use data and insight to continuously refine employer brand and social media activity.
  • Partner closely with the Talent Acquisition team to develop and deliver attraction strategies that enhance the candidate experience, increase engagement across social media channels, and strengthen Armstrong's employer brand. Create and promote authentic content that showcases career opportunities, employee stories, business growth, and workplace culture to attract high-quality talent and support recruitment objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 3–5 years' experience in Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Employee Experience, Campus Recruitment, or a related field.
  • Experience managing employee engagement or onboarding programmes preferred.
  • Experience of employer branding, social media, or content marketing is desirable.

  • Familiarity with social media and employer review platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, Glassdoor) and their analytics.
  • Analytical mindset with experience interpreting engagement, recruitment, and social media metrics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS or applicant tracking systems (ATS).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
