Employee & Industrial Relations Manager

Salary: up to £80,000
Contract: Permanent
Reporting to: Head of HR

MLC Partners are recruiting an Employee & Industrial Relations Manager for a leading healthcare organisation providing highly specialised pathology and clinical laboratory services to clinicians, hospitals, and community healthcare providers across the UK.

Operating within a complex, highly regulated, and heavily unionised environment, the organisation is looking for an experienced ER/IR professional to lead its employee relations agenda, strengthen trade union relationships, and manage a team of four HR Advisers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead trade union engagement, negotiation, and formal consultation
  • Develop a more proactive and effective industrial relations strategy
  • Manage and develop a team of four HR Advisers
  • Oversee a high-volume and complex ER caseload
  • Advise senior stakeholders on sensitive ER and IR matters
  • Support work around pay, terms and conditions, and employment frameworks
  • Improve manager capability and consistency in handling ER issues

About You

You will have:

  • Strong experience working in a heavily unionised environment
  • Direct experience of collective bargaining, consultation, and dispute resolution
  • A strong background in complex employee relations
  • Previous people management experience
  • Strong employment law knowledge
  • The credibility and resilience to work with senior stakeholders and experienced trade union representatives
