A leading public sector organisation is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Adviser to join its People team on an initial 5-month contract, supporting a high-profile employee relations project.
Based in Central London, the role offers hybrid working (3 days per week in the office) and is paying £3.52 per hour Umbrella (£27.14 PAYE).
This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional with strong employee relations experience to play a key role in a significant organisational project, working closely with senior stakeholders, HR colleagues and Trade Union representatives.
About the Role
Working alongside the Employee Relations Project Lead, you will support the delivery of a large-scale appeals and review programme. You will act as a key point of contact for employees and managers, coordinating appeal cases, supporting hearings and ensuring processes are managed professionally, fairly and efficiently.
The role will involve managing a varied caseload of review and appeal matters, providing advice on process and procedure, maintaining accurate records and supporting wider employee relations activities as required.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Employee Relations Project Lead with the administration and coordination of the organisation's review and appeals process.
- Review and process appeal submissions, ensuring cases are progressed appropriately and in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Organise and coordinate appeal hearings, including scheduling meetings and liaising with panel members and stakeholders.
- Prepare, collate and manage documentation relating to appeal cases.
- Support appeal panels throughout the review process and communicate outcomes to employees.
- Act as a first point of contact for advice and guidance on review and appeal procedures.
- Maintain accurate case records, logs and management information to support effective project delivery.
- Support HR colleagues with queries relating to job evaluation processes.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with managers, employees, HR colleagues and Trade Union representatives.
- Provide support on wider employee relations matters relating to the project, including grievance cases where required.

About You
- Experience working within an Employee Relations, HR Adviser or HR Generalist role.
- Proven experience handling employee relations cases within a large and complex organisation.
- Knowledge and experience of supporting formal review, appeal, grievance or related HR processes.
- Experience working with Trade Unions and employee representatives.
- Knowledge of the Hay Job Evaluation methodology would be highly desirable.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
- Able to work independently, use initiative and remain resilient in a busy environment.
- Professional, customer-focused and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
