Role Overview And Purpose

The Employee Relations function exists to create a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace by enabling managers at all levels to make confident people decisions while ensuring specialist Employee Relations expertise is available where organizational complexity, contractual requirements, or workforce risk require intervention.

Supporting the delivery of the People Strategy, Employee Relations operates as a single specialist team through a tiered service model with the flexible deployment of dedicated and shared specialist resources. This enables ABM to deliver consistent Employee Relations support across the UK & Ireland while recognizing the unique operational and contractual requirements of client-funded and strategically significant accounts.

The function is built on four core principles:

Manager Enablement - equipping managers through self-service, guidance, toolkits, and coaching.
Flexible Deployment - providing specialist capability through dedicated and shared Employee Relations resources.
Governance & Standards - ensuring one governance framework, one methodology, and consistent service standards across all Employee Relations activity.
Strategic Partnership - working collaboratively with Industrial Relations, HR Business Partners, Centres of Excellence, and operational leaders to proactively improve organizational performance, employee experience, and workforce capability.

Through proactive intervention, organizational insight, and continuous improvement, the Employee Relations function supports business growth, strengthens organizational capability, and creates a positive employee experience across the UK & Ireland.

Role Overview And Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Employee Relations Manager, the Employee Relations Advisor provides specialist Employee Relations advice and operational case management across the UK & Ireland, enabling managers at all levels to manage people matters fairly, consistently, and in line with Company policies, employment legislation, and organizational values.

Operating as part of a single specialist Employee Relations team, the role delivers Employee Relations services through a tiered service model with the flexible deployment of dedicated and shared specialist resources. The Employee Relations Advisor may support dedicated client contracts or shared business areas depending on organizational priorities, while operating within one governance framework, consistent methodology, and service standards.

The role is responsible for managing a broad range of Employee Relations cases, providing practical guidance and coaching to managers, conducting investigations, and supporting the early resolution of workplace issues. Through proactive intervention, effective case management, and collaborative working with HR Business Partners and wider People teams, the Employee Relations Advisor contributes to a positive employee experience, organizational performance, and the successful delivery of the People Strategy.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
