Employee Relations Advisor

Permanent - Full Time – Hybrid, 2 days in NG2 office (Nottingham)

Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week

Up to £31,000 per annum + benefits and bonus

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join our People Team in Nottingham. In this role, you will provide commercially focused employee relations and employment policy advice to managers and colleagues across the business, helping to deliver practical solutions while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policies. You’ll manage a broad and varied ER caseload, coach managers through complex people matters, support key organisational projects and help shape a positive employee experience. What You’ll Do As An Employee Relations Advisor

As an Employee Relations Advisor, you'll be trusted to provide expert guidance on a range of people matters while building strong relationships across the business. This is a varied role where no two days are the same. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing commercially focused employee relations advice and guidance to managers and colleagues.
  • Managing a complex and varied ER caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance management, redundancy and wellbeing cases.
  • Coaching and influencing managers to make informed decisions in line with employment legislation and company policies.
  • Maintaining accurate ER records and case trackers to support reporting, compliance and audit requirements.
  • Supporting ER Managers and Partners with ACAS conciliation and Employment Tribunal preparation and case management.
  • Leading or supporting key business projects including TUPE transfers, acquisitions, restructures, reorganisations and system implementations.
  • Building effective working relationships with stakeholders across operational and support functions.
  • Attending and actively participating in ER review meetings and stakeholder meetings.
  • Identifying trends and patterns within ER activity to support proactive interventions, policy development and manager training.
  • Managing SSP eligibility compliance, validating supporting documentation and resolving SSP-related queries and disputes.
  • Working collaboratively with Payroll, ER Advisors and ER Partners to resolve complex employee queries.
  • Ensuring people records are maintained accurately and in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Continuously reviewing and recommending improvements to ER processes, policies and ways of working.
  • Supporting wider People Team activities and providing assistance across ER and HR functions when required.

  • Previous experience in an Employee Relations, HR Advisory or HR Business Partnering role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice.
  • Experience managing a diverse ER caseload independently and effectively.
  • Excellent coaching, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting complex projects such as TUPE transfers, acquisitions, reorganisations or change programmes.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience working alongside legal advisors, ACAS or Employment Tribunals would be advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate case management records.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and delivering excellent customer service.
  • A collaborative approach and a genuine commitment to personal and professional development.
