Employee Relations Business Partner | London | £40,000–£42,000
We’re looking for an experienced Employee Relations Business Partner to join our People team in London! This is not a generalist People Partner role. Employee Relations will be at the heart of what you do.
You’ll take ownership of a high-volume and often complex ER caseload, working closely with managers and senior leaders to navigate sensitive people matters and reach fair, practical and commercially considered outcomes.
What you’ll be dealing with
Your caseload will include:
- Complex disciplinary and grievance cases
- Workplace investigations
- Conduct, capability, performance and absence matters
- Third-party/client removal requests and the associated employee relations implications
- Other complex and sensitive employee matters
We’re looking for someone with strong, hands-on ER experience who is used to managing a busy caseload and taking cases from start to finish. This is a genuinely fast-paced environment. You’ll need to be comfortable having multiple live cases at different stages, managing competing priorities and deadlines, and knowing when something needs to move quickly – while still maintaining a thorough, fair and consistent approach. You’ll need to be confident dealing with difficult situations, challenging constructively when needed and balancing employment law and ER risk with the realities of a busy operational business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Application Guidance
Think you could be a great fit? You may have read the requirements above and feel that this role is right for you, but perhaps you don’t meet every element of the experience or qualifications we’ve listed. Please don’t let that put you off applying. We recognise that great candidates don’t always tick every box on a job description. We’re interested in hearing from people who can demonstrate the right skills, approach, potential and passion for Employee Relations. If you believe you would be a great fit for this role, we’d encourage you to apply and include a cover letter explaining why you feel you’re the right candidate, what you could bring to the role, and how your experience and transferable skills would enable you to succeed.
If complex Employee Relations is the part of HR you genuinely enjoy, you’re comfortable carrying a busy caseload and you want a role where you can take real ownership of cases from beginning to end, we’d love to hear from you.
