Role Overview
As Employee Relations Lead, you'll take ownership of employee relations casework across the UK, providing practical, consistent and legally sound advice to managers and HR colleagues.
You'll independently manage a varied portfolio of Employee Relations matters, from day-to-day cases through to complex and sensitive situations, ensuring every case is handled fairly, consistently and in line with UK employment law and company policy.
This is a genuinely hands-on role where you'll own cases from initial advice through to resolution, including all associated administration and documentation, while acting as the trusted Employee Relations expert across the business.
Key Responsibilities

- Independently manage a portfolio of Employee Relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, conduct and other complex employee matters.
- Take full ownership of cases from initial advice through to resolution, including all associated administration, documentation and follow-up.
- Advise on flexible working requests, contractual changes and employee exits.
- Support managers and HR colleagues through formal processes including redundancy consultations and TUPE transfers.
- Develop Employee Relations strategies for complex organisational change programmes, including redundancy planning, cost calculations, consideration of alternatives, manager briefings and successful execution.
- Ensure all cases are managed fairly, proportionately and in line with UK employment legislation and company policies.
- Maintain accurate case records while identifying appropriate escalation points where required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
