Employee Relations Manager
Birmingham (Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office)
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + Autonomy + SLT + Benefits
Are you an experienced Employee Relations professional looking for an opportunity to lead a high-performing team and shape the delivery of Employee Relations services within a complex, fast-paced environment?
We are seeking an Employee Relations Manager / Head of Employee Relations to lead the delivery of a comprehensive ER service, providing expert guidance on complex employee relations matters while driving operational excellence, service improvement, and stakeholder satisfaction.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ER leader who combines strong employment law expertise with proven people management and stakeholder engagement skills.
The Role
Reporting into senior leadership, you will be responsible for leading a team of Employee Relations Advisors and Specialists, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, compliant, and commercially focused ER service.
You will act as a trusted partner to senior HR stakeholders, overseeing complex employee relations cases, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring exceptional service delivery across a large and diverse operation.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of Employee Relations services.
- Provide expert guidance on complex and high-risk ER cases including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, capability, redundancy, flexible working, and tribunal-related matters.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and act as a trusted adviser.
- Lead governance meetings, service reviews, and performance discussions.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of Employee Relations professionals.
- Drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and best practice across the function.
- Ensure compliance with UK and Ireland employment legislation and internal policies.
- Analyse trends, risks, and performance metrics to deliver meaningful business insights.
- Support transformation, change, and process improvement initiatives.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Employee Relations leader with:
- Extensive Employee Relations experience within a complex or multi-site environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK and Ireland employment law.
- Proven experience leading and developing teams.
- Experience managing complex ER cases and mitigating organisational risk.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience working within SLA-driven, shared services, outsourcing, consultative, or high-volume environments would be advantageous.
- A track record of driving service improvements and delivering measurable business outcomes.
