This Role

As our Employee Relations Manager, you’ll provide expert, practical advice and guidance on complex employment matters across MTVH. You’ll be the technical escalation point for our People Advisors and Assistants, helping the team deliver high-quality, timely case management in line with our policies, service standards, KPIs and UK employment legislation.
You’ll build trusted relationships across the People Team and wider organisation, coaching managers and colleagues through complex and high-risk cases. This will include ACAS, Employment Tribunal and TUPE matters, organisational change and restructures. When needed, you’ll lead individual cases and work closely with Heads of People, external legal providers, Payroll colleagues and trade union representatives to identify risks and achieve fair, well-reasoned outcomes.
You’ll oversee the Case Management Tracker and regular reporting, using case trends and external developments to recommend policy and process improvements, practical guidance and learning interventions. This is an opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with coaching, collaboration and continuous improvement while role-modelling our values of Care, Dare, Collaborate and Own.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
