Employee Relations Manager | London | Hybrid

Zachary Daniels are delighted to be partnering with an iconic British retail business to recruit an Employee Relations Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced ER professional who enjoys leading a team while remaining hands-on with casework. Reporting into the Head of ER, you will lead a team of two, providing practical advice and support to managers across the business.

The Role

As Employee Relations Manager, you will combine day-to-day team leadership with managing your own ER cases. You will support and develop your team, help managers navigate sensitive people matters and ensure a fair, consistent and commercially balanced approach.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys being close to the detail, building relationships and helping others make confident, informed decisions.

  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of two.
  • Managing your own ER caseload, including complex and sensitive matters.
  • Supporting the team with case guidance, prioritisation and escalations.
  • Providing clear, practical advice to managers in line with employment legislation and company policies.
  • Working closely with the Head of ER and wider People team to ensure a consistent approach.
  • Building managers' confidence and capability in handling employee relations matters.
  • Identifying recurring themes and opportunities to improve ER processes and ways of working.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced ER specialist who combines strong technical knowledge with an approachable, pragmatic style. You will be comfortable taking ownership of casework while providing direction and support to your team.

You will bring:

  • Strong experience in a dedicated employee relations role, including managing complex cases.
  • Experience of leading, coaching and developing others.
  • Sound knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application.
  • The confidence to influence and advise managers at different levels.
  • A commercial approach, balanced with fairness and care for the employee experience.
  • Strong organisation, with the ability to balance your own caseload and team priorities.
  • Experience within retail or a similarly fast-paced, multi-site environment would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

You will join an iconic British retail business, working closely with the Head of ER and taking responsibility for a small team. The role offers hybrid working, with three days in the London office and two days from home.
