Senior Employee Relations Manager
We’re looking for a Senior Employee Relations Manager to provide trusted, practical and confident ER support across our business. Acting as the first point of contact for General Managers, Territory Managers and People Business Partners, you’ll play a key role in promoting fair, consistent and commercially sound employee relations practices while minimising risk.
This is a hands-on role, working closely with operational leaders and the wider People Team to manage ER cases effectively, coach managers and help build confidence and capability across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Clear, Pragmatic Advice: Offer guidance to managers on a wide range of employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, and capability cases.
- Ensure Fair Management: Guarantee ER cases are managed fairly, consistently and in line with employment legislation, company policies and best practice.
- Coach and Support Managers: Assist line managers to manage ER matters confidently and achieve positive, sustainable outcomes.
- Build Strong Relationships: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with People Business Partners, Territory Managers, General Managers, and the wider People Team.
- Manage ER Enquiries: Handle ER enquiries through the ER inbox, escalating complex or high-risk cases appropriately.
- End-to-End Case Management: Own end-to-end case management, ensuring accurate and timely updates on ServiceNow and other people systems.
- Monitor Trends and Report: Monitor ER trends and produce case reporting to support insight-led decision making.
- Support Long-Term Cases: Assist with long-term sickness and capability cases, maintaining accurate records across people systems.
- Assist with Projects and Training: Aid with ER projects, policy updates, and the delivery of ER training where required.
- Liaise with External Partners: Communicate with external partners such as legal advisors, ACAS, and occupational health providers when needed.
- Stay Updated: Keep up to date with employment legislation and make recommendations to improve policy and process.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
