What You'll Do…

As an Employee Relations Manager, you will play a key role in building and embedding a robust Employee Relations framework across the UK business. Reporting to the VP HR, you will act as the subject matter expert on Employee Relations, employment law and industrial relations, ensuring a fair, consistent and legally compliant approach to people management.

Working closely with HR Business Partners and leaders across Manufacturing, R&D, Technology and Corporate Functions, you will support the business through significant growth, helping to establish policies, processes and consultation structures that support both organisational success and a positive employee experience.

This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation at a critical stage of its journey, helping shape the Employee Relations strategy for one of the UK's largest battery manufacturing facilities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Employee Relations policies, processes and frameworks.
  • Act as the UK subject matter expert on employment law, industrial relations and employee relations best practice.
  • Provide expert guidance and support on complex and high-risk Employee Relations matters.
  • Lead the organisation's readiness for employment law changes, including the Employment Rights Act, translating legislation into practical business solutions.
  • Establish and maintain effective employee consultation and representation forums.
  • Develop positive and constructive relationships with employee representatives, trade unions and external bodies.
  • Support collective consultation, organisational change and workforce transition activities.
  • Design and deliver training and coaching to build manager capability and confidence in Employee Relations matters.
  • Ensure consistency and compliance in Employee Relations case management across the business.
  • Support the preparation of employment tribunal cases and ACAS conciliation where required.
  • Develop ER reporting and dashboards, identifying trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners and business leaders to drive proactive interventions and improve employee experience.
  • Support the business as it scales, ensuring Employee Relations frameworks remain fit for purpose in a growing manufacturing environment.

Agratas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. We will design, develop and manufacture high-quality, high-performance, sustainable batteries for the mobility and energy sectors. We are a scale-up business with a start-up mentality and the backing of a well-established parent company.

The UK business headquarters is in the Midlands, and we are currently building a state-of-the-art battery manufacturing facility in Bridgwater, Somerset. This multi-billion-pound investment is one of the largest ever made in the UK automotive sector and will create thousands of jobs across the region and wider supply chain.

What You'll Bring…

  • Significant Employee Relations experience with strong employment law expertise.
  • Experience advising on complex ER cases and managing organisational risk.
  • Knowledge of industrial relations, employee consultation and trade union engagement.
  • Experience creating and implementing ER policies, processes and manager guidance.
  • Strong coaching, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience delivering ER training and developing manager capability.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to drive improvements.
  • Experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering or fast-paced operational environments would be advantageous.
  • CIPD Level 5, Level 7 or equivalent experience.
