Starting salary: PO3 (£47,262 – £50,676)
Work location: Alexandra House, 10 Station Road, Wood Green, London, N22 7TR
Hours per week: 36
Working arrangements: Hybrid
Contract type: Permanent

About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our Human Resources & Organisational Development team. In this role, you will provide expert HR advice and support to managers and employees across a broad range of employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, organisational change, redundancy, and conflict resolution. You will coach managers, support complex casework, analyse workforce trends, and help ensure employment legislation, HR policies and best practice are applied consistently across the organisation. You will also contribute to manager development through the delivery of training, workshops and guidance.

About The Team
The Employee Relations team plays a vital role in supporting the organisation to build a positive, fair and high-performing workplace culture. Working closely with senior leaders, managers, trade unions, legal services, occupational health and a range of internal and external stakeholders, the team provides strategic and operational HR expertise on complex people matters. As part of a collaborative and professional team, you will have the opportunity to influence organisational outcomes, support change initiatives, and help develop management capability across the council.
About You
You will be a CIPD-qualified HR professional, or hold an equivalent qualification, with experience of managing complex employee relations casework within a large, unionised organisation, ideally in local government or the wider public sector. You will have a strong understanding of employment law, organisational change, and HR best practice, alongside excellent communication, influencing and coaching skills. We are looking for someone who can build effective relationships quickly, provide pragmatic solutions to challenging people issues, and work confidently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism, discretion and a commitment to equality, diversity and continuous professional development.
