We’re searching for an Employee Relations Specialist to join us on a permanent basis at our Binley, Coventry HQ. The purpose of this role is to provide expert employee relations support across STARK UK, working in partnership with our outsourced Employee Relations provider to ensure consistent, commercially focused and legally compliant case management.
Key Responsibilities
The role acts as the key link between the business and the outsourced provider, driving timely case progression, ensuring management actions are completed, identifying trends and risks, and supporting the continuous improvement of employee relations practices across the organisation. The Employee Relations Specialist will also support complex cases, coach managers, monitor service delivery and help ensure a positive colleague experience while reducing organisational risk.
Key Result Areas
Employee Relations Case Oversight
- Act as the internal point of contact for employee relations cases managed by the outsourced provider.
- Track case progress, follow up outstanding manager actions and ensure cases move forward within agreed timescales.
- Provide practical guidance to managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, probation, flexible working and performance matters.
- Identify and escalate complex, sensitive or high-risk matters requiring additional HR, legal or business input.
Outsourced Provider Management
- Build and maintain an effective working relationship with the outsourced Employee Relations provider.
- Monitor service delivery, case quality, SLA performance and agreed ways of working.
- Challenge delays or gaps in service and work with the provider to resolve issues quickly.
- Support regular governance discussions and provide feedback on service performance, trends and improvement opportunities.

Risk, Compliance and Quality
- Ensure employee relations activity is managed consistently and in line with company policy, employment legislation and ACAS best practice.
- Maintain appropriate case records, documentation and evidence to support clear, auditable decision making.
- Support preparation for employment tribunal claims, settlement discussions and external legal advice where required.
- Identify recurring issues, risks or themes and recommend actions to reduce future ER risk.
Manager Capability and Continuous Improvement
- Coach managers to handle people matters confidently, consistently and at the earliest appropriate stage.
- Support the development of manager guidance, tools and briefing materials linked to employee relations processes.
- Use case data to identify areas where manager capability, policy clarity or process changes are needed.
- Contribute to People Services improvement activity, including technology, reporting and self-service initiatives.
Required Attributes, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Experience managing employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, probation, flexible working and performance management matters.
- Strong understanding of UK employment law, company policy and ACAS best practice, with the ability to apply this in a practical and commercially balanced way.
- Confident coaching and influencing managers, helping them understand their responsibilities and progress cases in a timely and consistent way.
- Ability to build strong relationships with HR colleagues, operational leaders, managers and external ER providers.
- Experience working with outsourced HR or Employee Relations providers, including monitoring service delivery, case quality and agreed timescales.
- Strong organisational and case management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow up outstanding actions.
- Able to analyse case data, identify themes and recommend improvements to reduce risk and improve the colleague and manager experience.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
- Resilient, discreet, solutions-focused and comfortable constructively challenging where needed.
