We, at Travis Perkins Plc have an exciting and varied Employee Relations Advisor opportunity within our highly engaged HR Shared Service Employee Relations team, based in Lodge Farm - Northampton.

You will take ownership for managing ER cases and be responsible for providing effective, efficient, responsive and commercial Employee Relations advice and support over the phone to all businesses within the Group, with a continuous improvement mindset.

This role will be working from our Northampton office 5 days a week during your training and induction period and will then progress to a hybrid working pattern (2-3 days in the office per week)

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide professional guidance and Employee Relations advice to Colleagues, Managers and Senior Leaders across the Travis Perkins Group via telephone.
  • Work in partnership with managers and senior leaders, advising and coaching them towards the best possible outcome and solution of Employee Relations issues.
  • Provide effective and efficient end-to-end case management support for disciplinaries, appeals, grievances and long term sickness cases. In exceptional circumstances attend hearings for complex cases and provide face-to-face advice to management.
  • Ensure advice given is; commercial, impartial, consistent, legally compliant and in line with company policies and procedures. Analysing and advising of any risks and/or costs to the business
  • Weekend and Bank Holiday emergency phone cover with an additional on-call allowance (approximately seven times per year)

This role is a full time position (37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday). It will enable you to take ownership of cases and will utilise your previous ER or HR experience within a fast paced environment. You’ll be utilising your strong communication skills via telephone to multisite internal stakeholders, with various cases.

Is this you?

  • Experienced in working in a similar HR role and handling Employee Relations cases (disciplinaries, grievances, appeals, long term sickness)
  • Hold excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Hold up to date knowledge of employment legislation and good understanding of data protection principles
  • Ability to handle difficult or complex situations
  • Confident and a strong influencer to respectfully challenge and be challenged at all levels
  • Hold a driving licence and mode of transport
