Job Description

Help adults develop their skills, build confidence and move into work.

We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Employment and Progression Coordinator to join our Apprenticeships and Adult Skills team and support the development of the new Chelmsford College Skills Hub.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships and creating opportunities. You will connect adult learners with employers, Jobcentre Plus and curriculum teams, helping learners progress into employment, apprenticeships or further learning.

What will you be doing?

You will support adult learners to identify their career goals, recognise their strengths and prepare confidently for employment. You will also build relationships with local employers, understand their recruitment needs and identify opportunities for our learners.

Your Work Will Include

  • Supporting learners with CVs, applications, interviews and progression planning.
  • Helping learners build confidence, recognise their skills and understand employer expectations.
  • Developing relationships with employers and identifying vacancies and recruitment opportunities.
  • Working with Jobcentre Plus and other partners to support learner progression.
  • Organising employer talks, recruitment activities, mock interviews and industry insights.
  • Providing employment and progression support for SWAPs, Skills Bootcamps and other adult skills programmes.
  • Sharing employer and labour market information with curriculum teams.
  • Tracking learner progression and demonstrating the impact of our adult skills provision.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who are we looking for?

You may have experience in employability, recruitment, careers, adult education, employer engagement, training or another people-focused role. You do not need to come from a Further Education background.

Most importantly, you will be able to build relationships, motivate people and confidently engage with employers and external organisations. You will have experience supporting people towards employment, education, training or career progression, alongside experience working with employers, businesses or external organisations.

You will be proactive, positive, organised and resilient, with a genuine passion for helping adults achieve their ambitions.

You will need a Level 3 qualification or equivalent relevant experience, together with GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.

Why this role matters

Our ambition for the Skills Hub goes beyond providing courses. We want adults to develop new skills, build confidence, understand their opportunities and take their next step towards sustainable employment and further progression.

You will play a central role in making this happen, helping shape how we work with learners and employers, developing local relationships and making a visible difference to learner outcomes.
