This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established and highly regarded commercial law firm with a strong presence across the North of England. The firm advises a broad range of national and regional employers, delivering pragmatic and commercially focused employment law solutions. Due to continued growth, the employment team is looking to appoint an Associate Solicitor to support an expanding respondent-focused practice.

Your new role

You will join a collaborative and nationally recognised employment team, acting exclusively for employers on a wide variety of contentious and non-contentious employment matters. Your caseload will include:

  • Managing Employment Tribunal claims from initial instruction through to final hearing.
  • Advising employers on disciplinary, grievance and performance management matters.
  • Supporting clients with restructures, redundancies and TUPE matters.
  • Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, policies and settlement agreements.
  • Providing practical day-to-day HR and employment law advice.
  • Assisting with business development activities and strengthening existing client relationships.

You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse client base ranging from SMEs to larger national organisations across a variety of industry sectors.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales or Chartered Legal Executive with 2-6 years' PQE.
  • Strong respondent employment law experience gained within private practice.
  • Experience managing Employment Tribunal matters on behalf of employers.
  • Excellent technical employment law knowledge.
  • Strong commercial awareness and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
