Employment Associate | 1–3 PQE | London | Top 50 International Law Firm

Are you an Employment Solicitor with 1–3 years’ PQE looking to develop your career within a highly regarded and growing team? This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading international law firm, working on a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters for a sophisticated client base.

The firm combines the resources and reach of an international practice with a collaborative and supportive culture, giving lawyers the opportunity to work on high-quality matters while developing their careers in a genuinely collegiate environment.

The firm advises a diverse client base ranging from established businesses and financial institutions to entrepreneurs, senior executives and private clients, often working across multiple practice areas to provide a joined-up commercial service.

The Employment Team

The Employment team advises a broad range of UK and international clients across the full spectrum of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, with particular strength in complex and sensitive advisory work, strategic projects, investigations, senior executive matters and employment disputes. The team also works closely with other practice areas across the firm, providing clients with a genuinely joined-up service on matters that often span multiple jurisdictions and areas of law.

Headed by a Legal 500 Leading Individual and highly regarded Employment Partner, who has built and developed the practice over many years, the team comprises a specialist group of lawyers advising on sophisticated and often high-profile employment matters. The department has a strong reputation for combining technical expertise with practical, commercially focused advice, with the team trusted by businesses, senior executives and professional advisers on complex and sensitive issues.

The team offers an excellent environment for an ambitious Associate to develop their experience across both contentious and non-contentious employment work, with exposure to experienced Partners, high-quality clients and matters that require a genuinely commercial approach.

The Role

The team is seeking an Employment Associate with 1–3 years’ PQE to join its successful London practice, offering the opportunity to take responsibility for your own matters while working closely with experienced Partners and colleagues across the wider firm.

You will have exposure to a broad range of employment work, including:

  • Advising on employment documentation, policies, disciplinary and grievance matters, performance issues, redundancies and family-friendly issues.
  • Running Employment Tribunal litigation for both Claimants and Respondents, including drafting pleadings, attending Preliminary Hearings and dealing with case management.
  • Advising on complex exits and supporting senior executives in negotiating severance terms.
  • Advising on restrictive covenants, confidentiality and employment-related disputes.
  • Supporting corporate transactions through employment due diligence, identifying red-flag issues, drafting warranties and indemnities and advising on TUPE.
  • Advising on employment status issues, including worker status and contracts for services.
  • Advising on employment data protection and privacy matters, including Data Subject Access Requests.
  • Advising on employment and partnership disputes, with exposure to more complex litigation where appropriate.
  • Supporting Partners with client development, networking and wider business development initiatives.

You will be encouraged to take a hands-on approach to managing your own files and caseload, with the opportunity to draft more complex documents with increasing autonomy and develop your own client relationships.

The role would suit an ambitious Employment Solicitor who enjoys variety and is looking for a team where they can develop both their technical expertise and commercial understanding. There is also scope to become involved in business development, article writing, networking and other initiatives designed to build the team's profile and client base.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years’ PQE, qualified in England & Wales or equivalent.
  • Strong experience across contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Experience handling Employment Tribunal proceedings.
  • Experience advising on employment transactions and TUPE.
  • Strong drafting skills and a commercially focused approach.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a wider team.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • A willingness to contribute to business development and the wider growth of the team.
