The Opportunity

An established and highly regarded international law firm is looking to recruit an Employment Associate to join its Manchester-based Employment team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified solicitor or lawyer with up to two years' post-qualification experience to develop their career within a sophisticated commercial employment practice, working alongside experienced lawyers on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a diverse client base, including leading businesses, innovative companies and organisations operating across a range of sectors.

The Employment Team

The Employment practice advises employers and senior individuals on a wide variety of employment law issues, combining technically excellent legal advice with a practical and commercially focused approach.

The team works on matters ranging from day-to-day employment advice through to complex and high-value employment disputes, strategic workforce issues and significant transactions.

You can expect exposure to a varied workload and the opportunity to develop both your technical expertise and your client-facing skills.

The Role

As an Employment Associate, you will:

  • Advise clients on a broad range of employment law matters.
  • Work on both contentious and non-contentious employment issues.
  • Support senior lawyers on complex and strategically important matters.
  • Take responsibility for your own caseload and contribute to wider team matters.
  • Develop strong and lasting relationships with clients.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Employment practice and wider firm.
  • Provide clear, commercially focused and pragmatic legal advice.
  • Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the practice.
  • Have the opportunity to work on matters involving sophisticated and innovative businesses.
  • Develop your professional and commercial skills within a supportive team environment.

About You

We are looking for a solicitor with NQ–2 years' PQE who has a genuine interest in employment law and is keen to develop their career within a leading commercial practice.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong academic and professional credentials.
  • Qualification as a solicitor in England & Wales.
  • Experience gained within an established employment law team.
  • A sound grounding in employment law, with exposure to both contentious and/or non-contentious work.
  • Strong analytical and drafting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to provide clear, practical and commercially minded advice.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented approach.
  • The confidence to develop relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude towards your own development and the development of the wider practice.

Candidates from a range of backgrounds will be considered where they can demonstrate the appropriate employment law experience and a strong interest in developing their career in this area.
