Employment Coach
Location: Aylesbury
Salary: £27,900
Contract: Fixed-Term until June 2028
The Role
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Employment Coach to support participants who have been out of work for at least six months. You will play a key role in helping participants overcome barriers to employment, build confidence and develop the skills they need to secure sustainable and meaningful employment.
Managing your own caseload, you will provide tailored one-to-one support, challenge and encouragement throughout each participant’s journey. You will complete diagnostic assessments, develop comprehensive action plans and deliver a range of work-focused activities designed to help participants move closer to employment and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Build effective, positive relationships with participants, working collaboratively to identify and overcome barriers to employment.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments to establish job readiness and determine the appropriate level of support required.
- Develop comprehensive action plans with participants, identifying suitable career opportunities, barriers and clear steps towards sustainable employment.
- Provide information, advice and guidance around areas such as debt, mental health, careers and other barriers, making appropriate referrals and signposting where required.
- Support participants to develop professional, up-to-date CVs, supporting statements and tailored covering letters.
- Provide effective job-search support, including registering participants with relevant job boards and maintaining up-to-date digital profiles.
- Deliver or arrange industry-specific training and development based on participants’ needs and relevant sector experience.
- Work closely with employer engagement teams and external employment support organisations to identify suitable job opportunities.
- Prepare participants for interviews through coaching, mock interviews and assessment activities.
- Ensure participants have access to appropriate workshops and tailored support, including health and wellbeing, transferable skills, job searching, CV writing and interview preparation.
- Work with pace and urgency, planning ahead and regularly reviewing progress and next steps.
- Meet and exceed monthly performance targets and KPIs, continuously seeking ways to improve participant outcomes.

Skills and Experience
You will ideally have experience within welfare-to-work, employability, recruitment, business-to-business sales or another performance-driven environment. You will be confident managing a busy caseload, working towards targets and adapting your approach to meet individual needs.

You will have:
- Experience of working in a welfare-to-work or similar target-driven environment.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication, influencing and listening skills.
- A flexible, open and creative approach to problem solving.
- The ability to build rapport quickly and adapt your communication style to motivate, inspire and challenge participants.
- Knowledge of the local labour market, employment provision and relevant stakeholders.
- Strong networking skills and the ability to develop effective internal and external relationships.
- High levels of digital literacy, including strong Microsoft Office and web-based communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload under pressure.
